You Version - On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!

If we were in a courtroom, an officer would walk up to the respondent, ask him to place his right hand on the Bible, and say, “Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?” And he most likely would answer, “Yes.”

In that spirit of honesty, let me be upfront with you. If I’m telling the whole truth, the title of this reading plan probably should have been On Your Mark, Get Set, Stop instead of On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!!

This plan was meant to be a well-intentioned launch into the new year - something offered to encourage you along the way. As life often reminds us, even the best intentions don’t always unfold the way we imagine. I had to walk through some personal circumstances that delayed what I originally hoped to do.

Life doesn’t always arrive neatly packaged. There are starts and stops, pauses and pivots. The journey rarely follows a perfectly mapped-out path. By the time this plan is published, the first quarter of 2026 will be close to being referred to in the past tense – and that is OK!

Which makes me wonder - why do we feel like we can only say “On your mark, get set, go” on a specific date on the calendar? We can declare it today or on any day.
