You Version - We Call Him Our Father

It’s the time of year again when the calendar gently reminds us to celebrate Father’s Day.

As a firstborn son, I often reflect on the gift I was given, and the honor I carry, in being known as my dad’s son. Although he passed into eternity nearly a quarter-century ago, he remains present in my memories. My mom would often say, “like father, like son,” a phrase I wore as a badge of honor and a tribute to the man who shaped me. He is deeply missed yet is still impacting me.

In addition, I have also been blessed with the privilege of sharing the parenthood stage with my wife. Together we have journeyed through raising our three daughters, now grown.

They are my treasures and I am grateful beyond words for being known to them as Dad or Daddy. Though life has carried them on their own paths and places, their love continues to reach me, undiminished by distance.

While the calendar sets aside a day each year to celebrate fathers, when it comes to God our Father, every day offers a reason to honor Him - the One who loves us with an unending, perfect love.

It is my hope in this devotional that as we reflect, we consider a few of the attributes (among the many) that make it such a profound privilege as We Call Him Our Father.
